Slay or sley
Thr sley is a wooden frame it consisting of shuttle boxes, sley race, sley sword, reed cap.etc
It swings forward and backward while weaving
It allows the shuttle to pass through the shed during it's foreward movement
It beats the last pick to the fell of the cloth during it's forward movement with the help of the reed.
Reed space is equal to maximum width of reed that can placed in the grooves of the sley
Shuttle  box
It is a rectangular wooden box to accomodate the shuttle
It accomodates shuttle when it is stationary
It is fixed at both the ends of the slay race
Picker is placed in the shuttle box to propell shuttle
The shuttle dwells in the box during the period between two successive picks
Shuttle
A shuttle is a vehicle for carrying the weft from one selvedge to another through the shed
When stationary the shuttle dwells in the shuttle box

Types of shuttle
        Bamboo shuttle.  (Silk sarees ,brocades)

It absorbes the force of the shuttle while entering the box.weavers beam or warp beam
Back rest
It is a cylindrical wooden or metal roller placed above the weavers beam
It guides the warp threads to sley through lease rods and healds
It constantly maintain the leval of the warp in co-ordination with front rest
Front rest
It is a cylindrical woode  or metal roller placed infront of the loom just below the front rest
The cloth is wound on it after weaving
It is also provided with ratchet wheel and pawl for take up arrengment or any other take up mechanisam
Lease rod
The induvidual warp threads are alternatively passes up and dwon the lease rods, there by dividing induvidually end in the order of odd and even end alternatively
A pair of lease rods or 3 or 4 rods are used according to the requirment
The lease rods are placed between healds shaft and back rest
Temple

The temple prevents under contration of cloth by keeping cloth width proper tension
It also prevent the damage to the reed by the selvedge ends
Types of temple
    Flat wooden temple

Loom
It is a machine used to weaving the fabric
Handloom is a
machine, operated manually by hands and legs for producing cloth by wraving
Healds
Healds are used to draw the threads through them as per the drafting order
The healds are knitted or mounted on heald frames for producing shedding
Types of healds
     Single clasped heald(used prmitive looms)
      Double clasped heald
      Varnished heald
       Steel heald-for weaving all varieties
Heald shaft
It is composed of two wooden frames
The heald wires which are mounted on a pair ofrods are attached to the frame
In the middle of each heald wire there is a heald eye, through which the ends are drawn

The warp threads drawn through the heald eye
Healds are known by various name such ad staves, heddles functions of heald shaft
Reed
It is a comb fixed in a slay with a reed cap
Bamboo, bras and stainless steel reeds are available
Ends per inch in a fabric is maintained by using required count of reed and denting order.it beates last pick of weft to the fell of the cloth
